EU-FP 7: VISIONS-OLYMPICS - The next generation products and procedures for vessels and floating structures

PROJEKT: VISIONS-OLYMPICS will aim to increase the European competitive advantage by tapping into the unspoiled/unbiased creative minds of the young generation. It will:
* Offer out of the box concepts and ideas for the future of European maritime transport,
* Develop these ideas within an environment where purpose driven innovation is cultivated and performed in a risk free envoironment,
* Build bridges between universities and industry,
* Enhance the skills of future employees in a highly competitive environment,
* Offer targeted dissemination to industry.

Procedure
* Announcement of contest - end of October 2009
* Registration of Student teams - until mid of January 2010
* Delivery of contest contributions - end of April 2010
* Evaluation - until August
* Award ceremony in September
Objectives
* Offer out of the box concepts and ideas for the future of European maritime transport,
* Develop these ideas within an environment where purpose driven innovation is cultivated and performed in a risk free environment,
* Build bridges and enhance coordination between EU research networks and strengthen the partnership between research Universities and industry,
* Enhance the skills of future employees in a highly competitive environment,
* Offer targeted dissemination to industry
Academic Contest: Evaluation-criteria
1.
| (1.) Quantum leap - Degree of innovation and novelty. Emphasis on novelty, or at least an innovative application of existing knowledge.
| 2.
| (0.9) Fit to the Scenario. How the delivered concept idea fits to the selected business scenario.
| 3.
| (0.8) Impact on product markets. How the concept idea affects the existing product structure.
| 4.
| (0.7) Potential to improve the position of European industry. How this concept idea supports the improvement of competitive advantage of the European shipbuilding industry.
| 5.
| (0.6) Feasibility Consideration. How feasible is the realisation of the concept idea according to current and assumed future knowledge.
| 6.
| (0.5) Robustness for different scenarios. How well the concept fits into the given market and society scenario and how successful it will be under deviating conditions.
| 7.
| (0.4) Quality of presentation of the submitted material (documentation).
